Earth Day Weekend
This recent Earth Day weekend we helped organize a clean-up at the Weld Street - VFW Parkway trail entrance. 25 volunteers - including the new Chairperson of the Boston Conservation Commission - worked for 2 hours in the morning to rake leaves, clear fallen branches and remove old construction debris. Parks Department has now completed spring mulching of this site, around improvements made by the Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury.  Thanks to all involved.

The 64 Allandale Lawsuit
Residents' lawsuit challenging City approvals of the 18-unit luxury townhome plan on property bordering the woods and wetland remains active, as does the separate Springhouse, Inc case.  The legal discovery phase is now complete, with motions for Summary Judgment anticipated within the next 6 to 8 weeks. Full details of the legal process are posted in the previous 'Current Status' posting on this site.
From the start of this effort in September 2016, we have encouraged the City to focus its efforts towards creating more affordable housing, directing density to sites near transit and walkable main street shopping districts while protecting natural areas and neighborhood historic resources.  This letter to Boston Mayor Walsh from the the Boston Preservation Alliance provides useful context to our issues.
Although addressing historic preservation in East Boston, many of the themes raised by the Alliance resonate with our experience at Allandale. See also the recent Parkway Bulletin column .
We hope and intend that our efforts will help advance City decision-making towards a better balance between growth, housing affordability, historic preservation and environmental sustainability.

To Conclude
We have relied on the generous donations of many neighbors to maintain the 64 Allandale lawsuit over 16+ months. As the litigation enters a potentially decisive phase, we hope we can count on your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at the Summer Evening Event on Sunday, June 3rd.

Thank You for your support!
